Remote Work Experience
I have worked remotely on and off. For some time, back in 2014, I was freelancing and taking up remote projects. During the first half of 2019, I was working as a remote co-founder.

I have never worked remotely before, just a few freelance gigs. With COVID-19 though, have been working remotely for over 3 months now.
Glad to have you here Anna!
Fellow marketer here. What’s your speciality?
I worked for a UK based startup called K21 Academy and recently working remotely in my latest marketing agency job
Hey! I am primarily into organic search and CRO. Exploring Google Ads too nowadays. What about you?
I am more towards strategy, content creation and paid ads. Studying data analysis nowadays. (;
I am a CrossFit trainer. With COVID-19, a lot of things have changed and we are focusing on digital ways of reaching people. Let’s see how it goes!
No experience working remotely before COVID-19.
Very nice John! Super excited to know about changes in the fitness industry :)
This is really interesting. How have you been managing your work remotely?
Hi everyone, I’m a creative professional. I create abstract/futuristic art, host/maintain wordpress websites, and teach digital marketing/personal branding. I enjoy watching basketball. I love remote work and hope to normalize it over the next decade.
built a remote distributed team of 5.
Welcome :). That’s such a varied skillset you have! Basketball is one sport that I have not followed, but have always wanted to. Maybe once everything resumes, that might be it :P. Look forward to interacting here!
Yes, at Flexiple our tech team is remote. Further, we consistently work with freelancers from our network who are located across timezones. It is an interesting dynamic that poses challenges but also enforces discipline like nothing else I have experiened before.
Hello everyone. I am Ray and have been WFH since late 2018. I work as a customer success manager for Scalarr, an anti-fraud tool in the mobile space. I am huge sports and music fan and do enjoy remote work for the freedom it allows - when we are not in a pandemic state of course. :)
Yes, I have been working remotely since mid-2018 with several startup gaming and marketing companies, along with consulting services.
Welcome welcome :). I am a big sports fan too (Tennis - Rafa 🤘) and love for music sort of runs in my family. I can imagine some of our coffee room chats being very interesting!
This pandemic has indeed been unfortunate. I am hoping that the worst is already over though.
Would love to talk to you about your role, I am very interested in the profession. Also if you mean music fan as a listener, same here (not so much as playing though hahaha).
I have never worked on a full time job remotely, however, as an entrepreneur and as a consultant, I have experienced managing and operating remotely.
Was waiting for access - thanks @hrishikesh 😀.
I have been freelancing as a developer for about a year - mainly trying to focus on frontend. This is something I am really passionate about so I always jump into conversations that revolve around development.
I have been working as a full-time freelance developer for ~1 year.
Hey guys, Ermira here. I love traveling and have been doing that for a while now. I am an illustrator by profession but would like to believe that there is more to me than just my work-life :P. Thanks for having me in this community and look forward to learning from all of you!
Digital nomad for 2 years now. I am a freelance illustrator.
I will surely reach out when I need some travel advice. Hope that’s fine :P
Hi Ermira! Fello travel lover here. What do you think things will be like for travel in the next few months? Do you think there is any chance we can still travel internationally this year?
I have been freelancing for 11 years (full-time for 7).
Hello all, excited to take part in this community. My experiences hover mostly over tech topics (hardware, software related), but am also devoting a lot of my time recently to learn about how us humans interaction with each other, what motivates us, and where all this is going. Happy to share from my experiences as being a startup founder while visiting 18 countries in 3 different continents. Always looking for interesting opportunities where I can share from my knowledge - whether as a speaker, employee, or adviser.
Keep on rocking!
Yes, being a startup founder most of the work has to be conducted remotely regardless of a pandemic or otherwise. Whether preparing for a client/investor meeting or researching on a specific topic for preparing towards a speaking position.
Hey Refael! Welcome to the Clan :-)
Wow, you have indeed travelled a lot! Would also love to know more about your startup - you can kickoff a separate discussion for that whenever you find time :-)
Looking forward to interact and learn from you!
Hey @hrishikesh, thanks for your comment. Happy to do so, but might be better if the rest of the community can read and learn as well. If this community “meets” online every now and then, maybe we can arrange for a Q&A (just a thought)? Meanwhile feel free to drop your questions, maybe it’ll inspire to post some article 8).
Sounds great! We don’t have online meetups yet, but planning to have them soon :-)
Just checked out Letos and it looks very interesting & ambitious! I couldn’t capture all the specifics from the website (http://letos.me) but I am hoping we’ll have more discussions around this in the coming days :-)
Hi, happy to be here. I’m Joe, ceo and cofounder of Touchbase.team - quick team video chats that self-destruct after 15 mins. I previously ran Cisco’s collaboration labs looking at how technology can influence the future of work.
I am cofounder of Touchbase.team, making virtual team catch-ups/meetings more productive and faster. Previously I ran a globally distributed team at Cisco investigating the future of work for customers.
Welcome Joe! Glad to have you here :-)
Wow, Touchbase looks fantastic! I am trying it out for tomorrow’s standup ;-)
P.S: Have you considered posting it to Remote Tools. Let me know if you need any help at all!
Great idea. I just submitted it.
Hey Joe, Welcome. Touchbase looks really cool - congrats! Even the description sounds straight out of a Mission Impossible movie :). Would you mind if I create a post with a couple of questions around Touchbase and video communication? I believe the discussion will be super helpful to the community.
Glad to be here!
I work as a freelance writer and digital marketer. Have been doing this remotely for 2 years now.
I am Luca. Have been working remotely for ~3 yrs as a UI/UX designer. Love solving sudoku puzzles in my free time :)
Yes, ~3 years as a designer.
Hi, my name is Justin and I’m currently based in France
I’ve been working as part of a remote team for the past two years (my first remote work experience) building a company perks/incentive platform for remote companies and teams. As more people are working remotely across the globe, benefits like gym memberships and kombucha on tap in the office aren’t as relevant.
Pleased to be here and looking forward to connecting with more of you!
Have been working as part of a remote team for the past two years on my latest venture Quidli since Day 1 with varying levels of successes and failures ;)
Welcome to the Clan :-)
I browsed through Quidli’s website after your mail and it looks very interesting. You’re solving a very pertinent problem - Congrats!
Out of curiosity, do you also plan to include some sort of a marketplace in future to use the Crypto’s that are awarded?
Appreciate the welcome, @hrishikesh!
Re: Quidli, right now, we offer storage for holding (kind of like a savings account); users, however, can withdraw their holdings at any time and take to a crypto exchange in order to trade for cash or other tokens.
By the end of this week, we will release a feature enabling compound interest so you can earn on any holdings you choose to keep on the platform.
Before the end of this month, we aim to release an integration that enables you to exchange the crypto you hold for gift cards and phone top-ups across the globe.
Wow, those are some amazing set of features lined up Justin! Look forward to using it myself very soon :-)
Hey Folks, Azhar here from Bengaluru, India. I am a people’s person with a passion for Building Engaging Communities & Growth Hacking; and a pinch of interest for Tech & Industry 4.0. Currently working in the Growth team for a startup called Clergo.
One interesting technique I have discovered while working from home over the past 6 months is, Pomodoro Technique to make your work more productive.
My dream is to become a Pilot and fly Emirates A380 as the Captain. Any aviation enthusiasts here?
Glad to be a part of The Remote Clan and look forward to knowing you all 🙌
Currently working remotely due to Pandemic. Has been a great experience but one thing I've realized is, it is a little more stressful especially when you are working for a startup as there is no fixed working hours.
Thank you for the greetings, Karthik. :)
Glad to have you here Azhar :)
This thread's become too long, so we instead do a weekly thread on Wednesday to welcome our newest members ;)
We've an interesting discussion around productivity techniques on this thread - you might like to share your experience on Pomodoro there.
Would love to do that :) Thank you, Hrishikesh!
Hi folks, I’m Ankur. A recent convert to remote working, courtesy you-know-what, I earn my bread getting more customers to buy their’s at Bigbasket, an online grocery company. Besides, I read and eat extensively. Looking to learn from everyone else!
Yes, due to the mandated work from home during the current scenario I've been working remotely for the past three months.
Hey Ankur, Welcome welcome :)
COVID-19 has pushed all of us into sudden-remoteness. Hope things are going on well and look forward to interacting with you here!
Hey Everyone, Adam here and I’m the founder of Jointly.ai. Jointly is on a mission to help organisations truly embed their strategy by having staff, team and business leaders all connected and aligned. We have just released the first version which looks to align team vision by using the V2MOM framework supported by machine learning and natural language processing. We want jointly to be a ground-up solution that enables staff to highlight what each individual wants to achieve while still supporting the overarching strategy. We have taken on a small challenge here but hopefully, we are on the right road. Look forward to speaking to you all on remoteclan and happy to help anyone where I can.
I have worked remotely for multiple companies and have now set up my own business to support remote staff to align with company strategy and ensure that the remote worker is getting the best from the organisation. I have always felt that remote staff get told goal, objectives and vision and don't tend to feel part of the business! Hopefully, jointly.ai will solve this issue by putting the strategy into the hands of the staff.
Great to have you here Adam!
Jointly sounds fascinating and I am excited to give it a try myself. The metrics I see in the screens look very promising. Will let you know my thoughts once I have used it :-)
Hey everyone, Anushka here. I am a Digital & Growth Marketer.
Been working remotely for more than a year.
Actually my first and ONLY job is remote, so I don’t know what office cultures are like haha
Looking forward to interactions :)
My first and Only job is Remore so I actually have no clue what officle cultures are like ;)
Been working remote for over a year.
Hey Anushka! Glad to have you here :-)
Wow, you’ve only worked remotely ever, already envious of that ;-)
so many others are as well 😂
Hi Anushka, surprised to hear of your experiences. Would love to know more
Yes, as a consultabt, my industry has been fairly adapt at managing remote teams and I have had the option if doing so regularly
In the recent past, have discussed possible Covid strategy with 3 large corporate houses in India - all remotely
sure, looking forward to discussions
Hi everyone! My name is Alda and I’ve been a freelance translator (English-Brazilian Portuguese) for 11 years (full-time remote for about 7) :)
I love traveling and talked about it in my Remote Chronicles back in February… I was actually studying to be a travel writer when the COVID pandemics started - worst timing lol! But I’ve been trying to keep making travel plans and dreaming.
Happy to be here!
Super happy to have you here Alda!
Ah! That’s a bummer :( But I am sure you will find your way with travelling once things get back to normal :-)
Yes, I am trying slowly to keep organizing my next trips (writing down things I want to do and see in each city, etc) in order to keep the travel energy active :)
I’m assuming you are a fellow Brazilian, glad to see more of us here!
11 years as a translator? That’s interesting, would love to hear more.
Hi Jean, nice to e-meet you! Hope you’re staying safe in this crazy country we call home :)
Yes, 11 years going on 12! I talk a little bit about it in the Remote Chronicles interview I mentioned above. If you’re interested in checking out it’s here https://content.remote.tools/a-freelance-translator-and-interpreter-who-loves-traveling/
I am Jean, an independent consultant living in Brazil. I have studied and read about tech for a long time but last year I finally awoke and decided to transition to work for a technology company, from owner to employee. Unusual, I know. I am very interested in a lot of things from business related topics such as KPIs and gamification, to new tech (AI, blockchain). My goal is to get a customer success job, learn everything possible and transition in the future to project management. Extremely open but have no idea how to network!
Welcome Jean, super happy to have you here! We have a lot of members passionate about tech & business, including myself. I am looking forward to more of those discussions :-)
As do I! With so many things going on that mix those two it’s imperative to discuss a lot about it hahaha
Hello everyone! My name is Steven, and I am a data science student at Minerva - a fully-remote US university where students travel to and live in a different country every semester.
This summer, I built One Word Domains, which is a tool that allows you to browse through a list of all the available one-word domains out there. After a successful Product Hunt launch (got to #2!) and getting featured on the front page of Hacker News, I've received over 35,000 unique visitors and who bought 650+ domains from the site!
Looking forward to getting to know all of you here - I've been doing remote work for over 4 years now and I love every second of it, so feel free to reach out to me for tips & tricks on how to navigate remote working!
Founder of One Word Domains (https://www.oneword.domains/)
Hey Steven, Glad to have you on the clan :)
I read your previous post and it was quite interesting. I often find myself spending hours finding a simple & short domain name that isn't taken and one-word domains is an actual problem-solver. Also, would love to hear your remote learning experiences.
Hey Emira! Thanks a lot for the warm welcome! I'm glad you found value in One Word Domains - it always makes me happy to hear testimonials from users on how much the tool has helped them! As for Minerva - I'll definitely share more about that on this platform in the near future, but feel free to ask me any questions that you might have about it! :)
Nice to be here, I am a software engineer. Due to COVID-19 in my company, we started to work remotely three months ago. I’m looking for friends, to learn how to have better remote work experience, and share experiences.
Regards from Mexico city!
(if you decide to visit this beautiful city [once the COVID-19 pandemic end of course], It will be a pleasure for me to be your tourist guide!)
Samuel Karim Hernandez Cardona
I just started to work remotely cause COVID-19 pandemic
Welcome Samuel - glad to have you here! I am sure you will find a lot of people here to connect to and learn from :-)
Pretty cool! Mexico’s surely on my list of travel destinations now ;-)
👋 bhagyashree here.
Been a remote worker for the past 8 years - no going to the office ever
Marketer by profession and now have started India’s first Remote Work consultancy called All Remotely.
Looking forward to networking and learning more about remote work
8 years of working with global remote teams - love marketing and business development; can do a whole lot of other tasks as well
Hey Bhagyashree! Welcome welcome :)
A remote work consultancy sounds amazing. Brace yourself - you are going to get a lottt of work as the entire world grapples with “how to remote” :P
Look forward to learning from you!
Thanks, Karthik. Definitely a lot of interest and things to do :)
How is the consultancy working out in India? I tried to imagine something like this in my country (Brazil) and it does sound quite a challenge.
Hi Remote Clan,
Following Hrishikesh good work on the remote landscape here.
I am a digital marketer from India working remotely close to 2 years and 7 months now.
I really trust this community picks up.
Hey Raghav, Welcome! Super happy to see you here. Look forward to getting to know you better :)
Same here mate. (:
Hi Raghav, looks like you are a remote work ninja. Look forward to reading your inputs
I wish I could say the same. 😅
Remote work comes with challenges. But I have been getting better at it. (:
My name is Boris. I’m the co-founder of 🚀 RemoteMore.
👉 I have worked remotely for the last ~4 years.
👉 I currently manage a product team of 7 remote people.
It is my pleasure to be part of this community! I’m here to share my learnings about remote work, and I hope we will accelerate the adoption of remote work together!
Yes - about 5 years.
Both as individual contributor, and manager.
Once again, welcome Boris!
I’m Alexandra and I’m the co-founder of Teamo 🚀(https://teamo.team), a platform for teams to create social and lively group cards and celebrate their teammates.
I’m excited to be here in this community with all of you, and I’m looking forward to reading about all kinds of experiences you guys felt when remote working!
Hey Alexandra, This is a super use case that Teamo is solving - congrats! I was just thinking the other day that it has been a while since we formally recognised someone in our team. It does become a little tough to appreciate the effort put in when people are not next to you.
Welcome to Remote Clan. Eager to learn a lot from you :)
Good morning! I’m Cyn. I work from home as a technical specialist for a B2B2C SaaS startup in the travel industry. I started working from home way back in 1990, so I’ve learned a few things about remote life! Of course, many things have changed in that time. I have worked in an office here and there, too, but I greatly prefer working from home.
I started working remotely in 1990. I've done so off and on ever since.
Hey Cyn! Super glad to have you here :-)
Wow, that’s ton of remote work experience - we surely have a lots to learn from you! Would also love to have your story featured in the Remote Working Chronicles. Will shoot you an email if this sounds interesting :-)
Hi everyone! This is Shubham, a management consultant who keeps working with mid sized corporates on future strategies.
As multiply located teams, remote work was always a 4 days-a-month experience in my organization.
But more recently, as the COVID situation develops, have had to switch on completely to a new way of work.
Happy to discuss new businesses, some basic philosophy on job roles and anything else the community has in plan (including football)
Hey there Shubham, Welcome! I think with the COVID situation you might also have to help companies with their remote transition. Interesting times these! Look forward to discussing more on these topics and also football :P
Thanks Karthik. Surely will. In the last 2 months, my clientele includes
Have been scrolling around for good information. Yet to pen my own.
Sounds really cool. Hope the discussions here can also help shape your recommendations to these companies!
Glad to have you here.
Which team do you support?
Hi. Unfortunately, been a Man Utd fan since 1998. Tough times ahead, with a little glimmer of hope
Ole is doing a good job at having the identity back.
Post SAF, United lost their identity.
Go example is Pogba. Like - What is wrong with him?
Hehe. Not to digress for too long. But Pogba falls under the ‘Gareth Bale’, ‘James Rodrigues’ category. Every year you will feel people who have the potential being in teams that don’t necessarily know how to use it. Pogba’s lack of backend discipline cost him under Mourinho and his injuries have made him largely forgettable under Ole
