I'm working for a remote-first company. We used to have the freedom of working from home or office as we chose. But with changes in the recent Pandemic we shifted to 100% remote work. It has its own pros and cons.
I have worked remotely since 2012, first as a Ph.D. student and program manager at a policy institute, then as a freelancer, and now as a development coordinator of a nonprofit publisher. I have also taught university-level courses online and served on online course development teams. Finally, I have experience working from home with a child, as well as breastfeeding while working from home.
Yes, at Flexiple our tech team is remote. Further, we consistently work with freelancers from our network who are located across timezones. It is an interesting dynamic that poses challenges but also enforces discipline like nothing else I have experiened before.
I work out of my peaceful home in the suburbs of Bengaluru. Even though I have freelanced out of tech curiosity before, this my first shot at working completely remote without being a full time employee of a company. Looking forward!
