    Hey Remote Clan gang,

My name is Daniel Kyne, I'm the co-founder of OpinionX -- a free tool that helps founders and PMs to validate their ideas and find product-market fit faster.

Prior to OpinionX, I was Digital & Innovation Lead for Ice Cream & Tea categories at Unilever UK, a Global Facilitator at Techstars and one of the lead organisers for Ireland's largest technology event.

Sticking to the dog theme from Hallie, I love this GIF because I'm constantly dishing out gratitude recently for all the help and support people have been sharing with us.

It is surprising that Spotify, a barely profitable company, is offering the same pay for all employees whereas some big tech companies are cutting pay for remote working ๐Ÿ˜ถ
Spotify has a clear advantage when it comes to attracting talent and I don't see any reason why employees would prefer companies like FB, Twitter or VMware anymore.ย

Hey everyone. Would be great to know a little bit more about each of you!

Yes, I agree that Discord does a great job of keeping people connected. Discord is very similar to Slack in most ways.ย

But, Slack has focused on being an essential tool for work communication rather than something people can use to hang out and spend time together.

A major advantage of Slack is its app marketplace, which provides hundreds of integrations with other work tools.ย

Focus on developing new habits that work for your new way of working โ€“ donโ€™t just translate in-office habits to the remote world.

This is great advice. Feel this would be one of the most common mistakes that new remote workers make and often struggle with.

Really like how you prioritize your tasks in email for the day. Cheers :)

Great read. Thanks for sharing your remote work experiences. I enjoyed reading the bonus stuff the kid had to share, too ๐Ÿ˜„.

                                    1. 3

Quite an interesting suggestion. I browsed through the website & it seems Mattermost primarily targets enterprise clients? But looks like they also have a free plan upto 10 users.

I am trying to understand what's the biggest advantage of moving to Mattermost. Privacy as you said could be an advantage compared to Slack but I am guessing the differentiator here is that it's an all-in-one platform for developers. Also saw the page where they have written about how Mattermost & MS Teams can actually work together.

                                      1. 2

First of all thanks @cathyt for appreciation. The biggest advantage which I think is that mattermost is open source and you can customize it according to your needs. Beside this they have lots of Saas services based on clouds which are very useful. And another cool solution they provide is their remote services.

                                      1. 3

Great share Bashar. Quite refreshing to know that a huge chunk of jobs are fully remote. Do you also plan to further split the data & share stats? For e.g. would be interesting to know which geographies have the highest fully remote jobs or which ones have geographical restrictions (my guess would be countries/regions that have lower pay since they won't be able to match pay in countries like the US).

                                        1. 3

That's a good idea Cathy, I will look into it. Not sure if I have enough data yet to build a good report for this, but it's worth a look. I don't have many job ads from lower pay countries yet, but the restrictions I can recall are from Canada, due to work visa, US very often due to time constraint. Europe could ask for Europeans as it's far easier to handle legally, and some UK studios had received funding that requires hiring from UK only.

That's just from top of my head.ย
