As Discord's entire product is geared towards offering a great audio experience, I think their users will benefit a lot from this. Eager to see how this plays out

And since they have the lead on audio, I think they'll lead this new market as well in a couple of years. But CH will still be at the top. They have the badge for being the first to create an audio-only social network, and there seems to be place for everyone in this newly emerged market.

Definitely excited for Clubhouse as well. Can't wait to see it on Android.ย

Agree. I think Discord already had set a foot for audio experiences (actually most of my experiences with Discord have been audio only for a while). I'm not then how the new clubhouse like feature will play out.ย

I feel these are just click baits or people who worked in an office the majority of their lives, as we all know that due to the pandemic remote work boomed across the world, and it will probably become the norm for all entrepreneurs willing to start a new business from now on.

I donโ€™t think it will disrupt Substack or Twitter Newsletter. Basecamp always tried to be against the trend as they have a different type of thinking when it comes to building products or a company.

They might restrict this feature to HEY users only and with the large majority of people who will rather use free email services it wonโ€™t grow exponentially.

We've just enrolled in Stripe Climate for another initiative of ours (https://econub.com) and closed our first sales ever! ๐ŸŽ‰ We made it be more like "Buy me a coffee" sort of thing, and already got 21 coffees over 2 days.

                          Really cool post.

@tafftalk, @raul, @nimrod-62, @sundargokul, @Bashar: Curious to know about your own explainer video/ your favourite one!

                            1. 2

Oh, my favorite ones are definitely from FontAwesome. The team that creates marvelous icons.

I was an early backer on their Kickstarter for V5. Their video was exquisite. And now they launched V6 with another great explainer video. They probably invested a ton of money into this but it certainly paid off.

For my own product, I made some lousy demos w/o sound. I'm even ashamed to showcase them. As my main strength is programming, but I struggle to expand my knowledge so hopefully in the upcoming feature I can level up this skill too.

                              1. 2

The videos surely look awesome - funny & cool ;) Not discounting the effort, but I think people come to expect such a great video at their scale and it makes sense to put in a lot of money on this.

I would still love to look at your videos (although you can share it whenever you're comfortable:) ) and don't think you should think less of them or the effort that went in. If you're helping out a user with a demo video, the purpose's already served.

Although I think a tool like Loom has made it quite simple & easy to create demo videos now. This wasn't the case a few years back.
