Remote Work Experience

My name is Kirsten, I am a native English lady from South Africa. I am married, have 2 beautiful children, a cat and 2 bunny rabbits to complete our imperfectly perfect home. I am a nature-loving girl, who has a passion for learning and life. I believe that the most brilliant minds have stayed brilliant because of constant learning. We are never too old to learn, even the teacher needs to learn! Some subjects I enjoy learning about as well as practising is Astrology, Neuroscience, Metaphysics as well as holistic methods of healing such as Reiki, Sound Healing, Chinese Medicine, Mindfulness and Meditation and many more diverse topics that frequent my brain. I am almost (as I am doing my certification currently) a certified Neuro-Language Coach, I teach people English Communication and have been doing so for 8 years now. I have taught English to children and adults from all over the world and am very proud of my virtual travels. I am a humanistic teacher who does not follow a traditional classroom approach to lessons. I think of myself as more of a coach than a teacher due to this method, I find that my learners respond best when their lessons are all about them, not about a particular book or lesson plan. Many learning barriers are developed at a very young age, and most don’t know how these engrained “forgotten” memories are still very much active in our subconscious minds, having a detrimental effect on our current learning habits and abilities. It is my job to help students remember events that could have led to a “love-hate relationship” with learning particular subjects, how to change the habits and the mindset, to obtain total confidence in speaking, whether they make mistakes or not. This is my recipe to fluency. It is my favourite method of teaching and a method that I find to be most effective with the best results! It is a method that is useful for all types of students, as well as ages. Together, we work on setting goals, look at learning styles and focus on the students' needs and wants, and I guide students to finding the power within themselves, using a combination of Neuroscience and Life Coaching techniques, to aid students on their language journeys.

I think these are 3 important parts to being successful as a remote worker

Self discipline is a definite necessity, it's easy to get distracted. The second is being flexible, if you want to work at home, you have to be flexible. The third part, is self care and balance. Its important to to separate work from home life, care for your personal needs and work needs to balance your life.

Here's how I plan to contribute to The Remote Clan

English and understanding the language is an important part of business now, however, there is much more to English than just language. It's about being able to read between the lines. Its about intuition. This is what I will contribute.

Here's what I want to gain from The Remote Clan

I would like to learn how to make my business successful, to learn all I need to run a prosperous and meaningful coaching business.

These are the 2 best topics to start off a conversation with me

Personally, I always start conversations by asking about you. I listen carefully, we find common interests and conversations are born. One must not be afraid to communicate.
